Laura Dean
My name is Laura. I am the very proud parent of two SEND boys, one in mainstream primary school and the other transitioning from a Specialist Provision to college this year!
During the week I work as a Governance Professional with the Kirklees Governor Clerking Service. Prior to this, I spent 14 years working for the Probation Service and ended up as a Civil Servant when they became part of the Ministry of Justice.
I passionately believe that all children and young people are entitled to an education that is appropriate for their needs, promotes high standards and the fulfilment of potential. I am excited to work with fellow governors at Crow Lane Primary School to ensure that an inclusive culture is embedded, that all pupils are able to access the curriculum and are involved in all aspects of school life and most importantly, that funding and resources are allocated to meet the needs of all pupils.
In addition, I am committed to promoting mental health and wellbeing. Drawing on my neurodivergent perspective and empathy, supporting positive interventions such as mindfulness, meditation, and music.
