Live to learn, learn to live
Our school curriculum is based upon the programmes of study laid down in the National Curriculum and designed to:
Every child is recognised as a unique individual and we celebrate and welcome differences within our school community. Reading is highly valued and we endeavour to develop a lifelong love of reading and ensure all are good readers by the time they move on from our care. We provide enhancement opportunities to engage learning and believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. We will enable our pupils to form a sense of identity with their community and understand its history and geography through local studies and the use of our environment as a resource for learning. This extends to understanding the world on a national and global scale, including their role as responsible citizens in it. We use Building Learning Powers to learn how to learn, promoting positive attitudes which reflect the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for their own learning and future achievements.
Children leave with a sense of belonging to a community and equipped with the confidence and skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and make the most of the opportunities they are presented with.
