We have now completed our first term in Year 6 and our learning is well underway. Over the term we have made good progress and produced pieces of work to be very proud of. We are looking forward to starting our Spring term with the same excellent learning behaviours as we begin our new topics.

Below are examples of our Kehinde Wiley art project from the Autumn term. For our Black History Month work we studied the artist Kehinde Wiley. Kehinde was born in Los Angeles, America in 1977. His work combines portraits of black Americans who were originally amongst the poorer and powerless people in their society in classical powerful poses used by the great European artists of the past. Kehinde also uses floral repeating patterns in his work. We adapted our work to show images from the natural world from our Science topic and created our repeating patterns. We then took photographs of ourselves in classical powerful poses.
