Learning Together

We are excited to share our new initiative, ‘Learning Together’ that has started in Reception. ‘Learning Together’ provides a variety of new and exciting opportunities for children, parents and school staff to work together to support learning across the forthcoming year. The approach has been led this year by Sara Hions - a Community Teacher from the Kirklees Learning Service and Mrs Jones from school.

So far this year we have visited the local Aldi and Garden Centre. We have even been on a bus ride. We have explored with parents how they can support their child's learning at home by demonstrating simple games such as finding different objects that start with letters from our names while out and about. We really enjoyed this game while working around our local environment.

As part of the project we have worked on activities the children can do at home with their grown ups. After each session the children were given a small task to do at home linked to that weeks work, such as writing a shopping list before our visit to Aldi, posting a letter, drawing with family and extended family using massive roles of wallpaper.

It has been lots of fun and we have had excellent parental engagement!
